3cl - 1oz. of Pere Magloire Calvados VSOP

3cl - 1 oz. of Apfel liqueur 

2,25cl - 3/4 oz. of lemon juice

1,5cl - 1/2 oz. of simple syrup

2 slices of fresh ginger

4-5 blackberries

The recipe

Muddle ginger slices, add remaining ingredients, shake vigorously, pour everything including ice into double rocks glass.

The most important thing when making this cocktail is to completely muddle the ginger and to shake vigorously to break up the blackberries. 

The Calvados

Père Magloire V.S.O.P. is notable because it is made only from cider from apples harvested in the Pays d’Auge. The character this soil gives the apples, combined with double distillation in copper stills, offers the V.S.O.P. richness and length. V.S.O.P. is blended from Calvados which has been aged in century-old oak barrels for at least four years.

I have been at the Third Man since it was under construction. It will be two years in November 2014.

This Calvados Père Magloire V.S.O.P. is particular because it has a beautiful fruity taste and aroma which works in perfect harmony with the cocktail.
The smoothness and slight spice enhance the ginger, apple and blackberry taste.

The rustic quality of the ginger goes with the earthy sweetness of the blackberry and apple, just like best friends compliment each other.
